According to the World Federation of the Deaf, at least 90% of deaf people in developing countries have no education at all. This means there are over 180 million deaf people in the world with no education- people who often times never learn to read, write, speak/lip-read, or sign. Discovering Deaf Worlds (DDW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering deaf and hard of hearing people in developing countries. DDW’s goal is to reduce this statistic by supporting local efforts around the world to educate, employ, and empower deaf communities.
